"I play the title character Ilai, a 10th grader girl, in the heroine-oriented film," said Swathy. "She is a traditional, quiet girl, and the story focuses on her relationship with her father, quite a bit. When he passes away, Ilai has to face a few hardships within the span of a single day, and the film is about this incident."

Director Bineesh Raj also added, "The story is set in the 90s, in a remote village in Tamil Nadu. The people there don't agree with girls pursuing education, but Ilai has big dreams about her future and wants to study. She has to face opposition even from her mom, and the story is about how the little girl takes up on the challenges".
